Fast Typing
This person broke a fast typing record for a mobile device by typing the sentence in 21 seconds. I managed to type it 41.106 seconds, with cold hands and no practice on a Palm Pre.

Canada is the second most friendly country in the world to expatriates.
Canada, which ranked first in a similar survey last year, fell to second place on HSBC's integration score, which measures how easily foreigners and their families can settle into a new country. Australia, Thailand and Malaysia rounded out the top five. Foreign workers in these countries found it easy to make local friends and said they enjoyed a higher quality of life than in their native countries.
The list for the top ten is: Bahrain, Canada, Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, South Africa, Hong Kong, Singapore, Spain, United States.
It just makes me proud that we beat the US in some quality of life survey... yet again!

The much hyped Dubai Metro is apparently off to a good start.
In this part of the world however, we are not without our own new "metro". With the 2010 Winter Olympics coming very soon - in February 2010 to be exact - the Vancouver government is working hard to improve the infrastructure of the city.
Among other things was a $2 billion extension to the current SkyTrain (aka "metro") line, running from the airport to downtown Vancouver. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of the new line, but here is a picture of an empty SkyTrain. This train runs on the older line, made in the 1980s. The new cars are more spacious and generally look better.
These are also driverless. We had in the 1980s what Dubai got in 2009!
As of now, Vancouver has the longest driverless metro system anywhere in the world
P.S. Recently this website had been hacked by some Russian dudes who tried to link to some virus.
To protect you from this nastiness, I took out the backend to prevent the possibility of any updates (read: hacking) from occurring. So the downside was that even I couldn't update my own website! Now we're back in business, so all should be well

So yesterday (Saturday) was an amazing day!
I woke up and checked my Mac's Dashboard, and saw this:
"Wow", I thought to myself. "This is going to be a beautiful day if it's already warmer than Irvine, California!" But that wasn't it though... it kept getting warmer and warmer as the day progressed, eventually being this around noon:
Now I was really excited. It's warmer than a real desert! (Irvine is a semi-arid desert, by the way). But this wasn't it either. Around 2PM, the sky suddenly turned dark and gloomy and thunderclouds quickly started collecting (I took a picture which I will upload soon). This is what the dashboard showed:
Feels like 31ºC! Not to worry though; seasonal temperatures (10 degrees) will be back by the end of this week.
I'm not in the finance field in any way (and am probably lucky that I'm not in these crappy economic times), but still think this is pretty cool.
Global Finance magazine just released a list of the world’s 50 safest banks and all of the Big Five Canadian banks made that list! Royal Bank, TD, CIBC, BMO and Scotia are all found somewhere on that list.
German bank KfW topped the list at #1 and HSBC came in at 19th position. Four American banks made the list, and only Germany and France had more banks than Canada on the list, at six each. Here is a PDF of their report.
